The most common reasons for “reduce‑only”
1. Saxo no longer offers trading in the instrument: In some cases, Saxo stops offering new trades in a specific security due to market conditions, liquidity issues, or changes from liquidity providers.
Clients may still sell, but cannot buy more.
2. Regulatory or distribution restrictions: Certain instruments cannot legally be distributed to retail investors in specific countries. These products are automatically restricted to reduce‑only.
3. Market- or issuer‑related events: Events such as corporate actions or changes to the issuer’s status can lead to the product being tradable only for closing existing exposure.
How do I hide instruments that cannot be traded?
If you do not wish to see instruments that are not available for trading, you can hide them on the platform:
- Click on the main menu
> go to Settings > click on Platform settings > Platform & trading > turn off Show non-tradable instruments in platform.
After this, you will only see instruments that can currently be traded.
You can still sell existing positions in a security that can no longer be traded, but you cannot buy additional shares.
