You may have received an email asking you to withdraw any remaining cash and to transfer or sell any remaining securities from your terminated account.
If you have received this communication, it is because your account is already closed, but there are still residual cash balances and / or financial instruments on it. To avoid the possible application of a management fee, where this is not already being applied to your account, it is important that you provide transfer or sale instructions as soon as possible.
This article explains how to transfer cash and/or securities, how to request the sale of any remaining securities, and how to request the write-off of delisted positions. It also provides guidance on what to do if you experience log-in issues or if your access to the platform has already been revoked.
Note: Please read the notification email carefully. It outlines the steps required for your specific situation and includes the date when your access will be revoked.
I received the notification email. What should I do before access is revoked?
Before your access is revoked, log in to your account and:
- Transfer cash and/or securities
- Sell remaining securities
- Request a write-off of any delisted positions
1. Transfer cash and/or securities
To transfer securities to another bank or broker, follow the instructions in this article: How do I transfer stocks or other securities out of my Saxo account?
Once all positions are closed or transferred, you can withdraw your remaining cash directly from the platform:
- Go to My Profile → Request Account Services → Close my account
- Follow the steps to transfer your balance
If you encounter any issues using the account closure flow on the platform, or if you are requesting the transfer from a corporate account at Saxo, please use the Withdrawal Account Closure Form required for withdrawing funds.
Once you have completed your transfer request form, please follow the steps below to submit it:
- SaxoTrader: Contact us
- SaxoInvestor*: Contact us
- Click on Write to us → Cash Deposits and Withdrawals → Withdrawals.
- Fill in the required details and upload the following documents:
- The completed Withdrawal Account Closure Form
- A bank account statement in PDF format for the account to which you wish to withdraw the funds
- A proof of identity document (e.g. passport)
- Finally, submit the request.
Please note that we do not support third-party payments. Transfers must be made to an account held in your own name. For corporate accounts with Saxo, withdrawals must be made to a bank account in the name of the same corporate entity.
2. Sell remaining securities
To sell any instrument in your portfolio, you can place a sell order directly through the platform. If you experience issues, contact us and we will assist.
3. Write off delisted positions
Be aware that not all positions are tradeable or transferable e.g. due to market regulations or due to the positions being delisted. As part of the account closure, delisted positions can be written off free of charge. If you hold delisted positions, you can request a write off directly through the platform.
I am having trouble logging in or my access has been revoked. What should I do?
If you cannot access your account but the deadline has not yet passed (e.g. 31 August), please try to retrieve your User ID or reset your password
If you still cannot log in, or if you have passed the deadline and your access has been revoked, use the digital request flow to:
- Transfer cash and/or securities
- Request sale of securities
If we require any further information after you have submitted your details via the digital flow, we will contact you directly using the phone number and/or email address you provided.
What happens if I do not act in time?
If you do not manage the cash and positions in your account by the access revocation date indicated in the notification email, you will need to use the digital flow to request transfers, withdrawals, or the sale of securities, as you will no longer be able to place these instructions directly on the platform.
If the cash and remaining positions are not transferred or closed by 31 August 2026, a monthly management fee of EUR 15 will be applied. If this fee is not already active on your account, it will start from 1 September 2026. From that date, you will also no longer accrue or receive any positive interest on the account.
I already requested my positions to be transferred out. What happens next?
If valid transfer instructions were submitted before access was revoked, we will continue processing them until completion. Please note that the final completion time also depends on the processing times of the receiving bank. If you would like to check on the status of your transfer, please contact us.
What if I need to download any reports from the account?
Please download any reports you may need for tax declaration purposes while you still have access to the platforms. You can find a list of available reports and where to locate them here: Where can I find my account reports?
If access has already been revoked, contact us and we will assist.
Can I open a new account in Saxo?
If you wish to open a new account with Saxo, please contact us and we will be happy to review your case and guide you on the next steps.
