Quickly find the value of your assets on any specific date
You can access the value of your portfolio on a specific day in two clicks.
Note: This function is only available in the web browser for SaxoInvestor. For SaxoTrader, it is available on both web and app.
- Navigate to Portfolio, and if you have multiple accounts, select the desired account or All accounts.
- From the Overview you can see the Current or switch to the Historical positions. If you look at the Historical tab you can find the value (Current price) of each asset in your portfolio on any date.
See the image below to view your historical values, for example on 31 December. The following image apply to both SaxoTrader and SaxoInvestor.
Find historical purchase prices
To find the purchase price you bought (and sold) an instrument. Especially when you bought and sold at different times, it can be important to see the different prices listed.
Navigate to Portfolio, and if you have multiple accounts, select the desired account or All accounts.
- Click on the Performance tab.
- Select All time.
- Select the relevant trade under the Earnings breakdown.
- Click on Transactions.
- Finally click on Trades.
- Here you will find the purchase and sell prices of your trades.
How to customise your portfolio according to your own needs?
Step 1: Choose table view or list view
For SaxoInvestor
You can customise your portfolio according to your own preferences. We have created two different types of views for this: a list view and a table view. On the website, you always have a table view. Let's show the difference:
|
List view shows your positions under each other and all information is visible on the screen. There are three selected columns, and the return is shown in percentage and a real number. The data will be visible to the right and under the name of the position. By clicking, you will see other data. |
Table view is slightly more compact, and you see all columns to the right of the (shortened) name of the asset. In a column, you see the same data neatly under each other. You can sort by clicking on each column, and you can choose more than three columns via the settings wheel. |
For SaxoTrader
On SaxoTrader you always have a table view both in the app and on the website. Lets see how that looks:
Step 2: You can group and sort
You can, for example, split all product types (stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, etc.) into separate groups and do the same for currencies (EUR, USD, etc.) or create separate groups per underlying asset.
SaxoTrader:
SaxoInvestor:
Based on your chosen grouping, you will be able to view the total amount of that group(s). In the list view, you can also choose to sort your assets within the selected group. You can rank your assets based on a chosen column. In table view, you sort directly in the portfolio by clicking on the column title.
Step 3: Which columns can I choose and what do they mean?
There is an abundance of information available about your assets, and we have therefore a lot of columns you can choose from. Whether you want to see your total return and/or daily return, in percentages or in real value, the current price, bid and ask, or the total value — there are many possibilities. You can select the columns via the settings wheel beside "View" on portfolio page in SaxoInvestor, or use
on top of the positions in SaxoTrader.
Below you will find a list of all abbreviations and what they mean. With a star we indicate the new columns that show the daily result.

In addition to the above columns, there are a few other columns that are specifically useful for certain product types such as options, ETFs, funds and/or bonds. For example, you can select the option greeks and an indicative risk calculation for options, the stop loss level for turbos, or the sustainability and morning star score at ETFs and non-listed funds.
Example with stocks
In this example, we choose to start with the number of shares we have (quantity). Next, we show the price we bought the share for (open price) and the current price (current price). We also want to see whether we are making a profit or loss (P/L), and we would also like to see the total value (market value). Additionally, we include the weighting of the position in the total wealth (portfolio %) and also the daily return (% 1D).
If the percentage of the weighting becomes too large, we might rebalance. If the percentage is too small, it might be time to close the position or increase it.
Also, with a certain percentage of loss (% Price) you might decide to close your position to prevent further losses. Or you choose to buy more and lower your weighted average purchase price.
When we want to immediately see what changes daily, we add the column "day P/L". With a large daily fluctuation, we can look up more information about the asset to see if there is any news. Via our inspiration pages and our daily stock market alert, you often read in the morning what is happening on the international stock markets.
With a customized portfolio view, you can always follow what you find important with any instrument.
