In securities trading, a "lot" refers to a standardized quantity of shares/products. The most common lot size is 100 shares, known as a "round lot." It is often more cost-effective due to lower transaction fees. Smaller quantities, such as 1 to 99 shares (if the lot size is 100 shares), are referred to as "odd lots." Some markets or brokers may have different definitions or standards for what constitutes a lot, especially in the context of different asset classes like options or futures.
On Saxo platform, you can see the Lot size in Trading conditions:
Typically it is required to trade at least 1 lot and round lots with some exchanges.
When you have odd lots, for example, you get 50 shares (less than 1 lot) as dividends and you want to sell it, you may not be able to do so from the platform. Please contact us for manual handling.
