Close or reduce a position in SaxoTraderGO and SaxoTraderPRO
- From the Trading area go to Positions
- Click Close on the position you want to close.
- Click Close Position
- To close part of the position, first, click on the minus sign to reduce the quantity, then click Reduce Position
If the quantity is greyed out and you cannot reduce it, this is likely because your account is set to End-of-day FIFO Netting. You can change your netting mode to Real-time FIFO or Real-time Average.

If you do not wish to change your netting mode, you can open a new trade ticket in the opposite direction to reduce the desired amount.
Close or reduce a position in SaxoInvestor*
- From the Portfolio area go to Overview
- Under Positions click Sell on the position you want to close.
- Select the quantity you want Sell.
- To close, the quantity you Sell has to match the quantity you bought.
- To reduce, just select part of that quantity.
- Finally, click Sell.
Close a position by placing an opposite trade
Another method to close or reduce a position is by opening a new position in the opposite direction.
Opposite positions will be netted out at the end of the day unless:
