Proof of Identity (POI) document requirements

When opening an account or completing a periodic personal information update at Saxo, we may need to verify your identity. Depending on your country of residence and the verification method used, this may involve providing a proof of identity (POI) document or completing an electronic identity verification process (e-ID). This article explains which proof of identity (POI) documents we accept and the requirements they must meet.

Who must provide a POI?

For retail clients, the following must provide a POI document (unless identity verification has been successfully completed through an accepted electronic identification (e-ID) solution):

• The individual account holder

For joint account holders, the following must provide a POI document (unless identity verification has been successfully completed through an accepted electronic identification (e-ID) solution:

• Each joint account applicant must verify their identity individually

For corporate accounts, the following stakeholders must provide a POI document:

• The ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs)
• The Directors

Acceptable POI documents

Saxo accepts the following types of proof of identity (POI) documents:

• Passport
• National identity card
• Driving licence - only in specific countries (not the Netherlands, Belgium, France or Hong Kong)

Residence permits or digitally issued documents are not accepted.

POI document requirements

A valid proof of identity (POI) document must contain sufficient information to verify your identity. Depending on the document type, it should include most of the following:

• Full name
• Date of birth
• Country of birth
• Photo
• Expiry date
• Unique document number
• Signature

The information required may vary depending on the type of document and local regulatory requirements.
