If you attempt to open a trade ticket shortly after logging in (within about 2 minutes), you may see a message similar to the following:
Verification required
As part of our ongoing security measures, a short wait applies before your first trade each session. You will be able to continue in 1:25
This is expected behaviour and forms part of Saxo's security controls. The message includes a countdown showing how much time remains before verification becomes available.
How does the verification process work?
- Open a trade ticket.
- If the security period is still active, you will see a countdown showing how much time remains before trading can be enabled.
- Once the waiting period has expired, open the trade ticket again.
- A verification code will be sent by SMS to your registered mobile phone number.
- Enter the verification code.
- If you do not receive the SMS, you can request a new code or choose to receive the code through a voice message.
- Once the code has been successfully verified, you can place your trade and continue trading normally for the remainder of your session.
Why is there a waiting period?
The waiting period is an additional security measure designed to help protect client accounts.
Do I need to verify every trade?
No.
You only need to verify once per session.
The verification is required before your first trade after signing in. Once you’ve successfully completed the SMS verification, you can place additional trades in that same session without verifying again. If you sign out and later sign back in (starting a new session), you’ll need to verify again before your first trade in that new session.
Where is the verification code sent?
The verification code is sent by SMS to the mobile phone number registered on your Saxo account.
Does this mean there is a problem with my account?
No.
Seeing the "Verification required" message is expected and forms part of Saxo's security measures to help protect your account and trading activity.
I did not receive the SMS code. What should I do?
If you do not receive the SMS verification code, you can:
- Select Resend SMS to request a new code.
- Select Send voice message to receive the verification code via an automated phone call. When the call comes in, answer it and the system will read your code aloud.
If you still do not receive the verification code, verify that your registered phone number is correct and able to receive SMS messages or calls. If the issue persists, please contact us for assistance.
