Your Investment Perspective helps ensure the products available to you on the Saxo platform match your circumstances and preferences. This article explains what it is, upcoming changes from 1 November 2026, and any action you might need to take.
What is the Investment Perspective?
The Investment Perspective is a short questionnaire that helps us understand three things about you:
- Risk tolerance — how much fluctuation in value you're comfortable with
- Ability to bear loss — how a loss on your Saxo account would affect your financial situation
- Investment horizon — how long you typically hold positions
Your answers form your Investment Perspective, which helps us assess whether certain products are compatible with your circumstances and preferences.
When answering the questionnaire, please consider two things:
- The products you trade with Saxo and the associated risk that you are willing to take when trading these products
- The portion of your money allocated to your account with Saxo instead of your overall portfolio if you have accounts with other financial institutions
Example: If you hold EUR 500,000 elsewhere and allocate EUR 10,000 with Saxo to trade FX, answer for your FX activity and the EUR 10,000 you have committed to it — not your total wealth.
Why does Saxo have the Investment Perspective?
Investing carries risks — and different products carry very different levels of risk and complexity. A product that suits one client may be wrong for another.
The Investment Perspective helps in two ways:
- It is in your best interest. By understanding your risk tolerance, financial situation, and investment horizon, we can ensure the products available to you match your circumstances — so you don't end up trading products that aren't right for your situation without knowing it.
- It supports our regulatory obligations. Under MiFID II product governance rules, investment firms are required to ensure that products reach the right target market — clients whose profile fits the product.
What's changing on 1 November 2026: from that date, your answers in the Investment Perspective will directly determine which products are available to you on the Saxo platform.

What does the message "This product does not match your Investment Perspective" mean?
You may see this message on a product page or trade ticket. It means the product isn't compatible with your current Investment Perspective — for example, the product may be designed for a longer investment horizon or a higher risk tolerance than what's on your profile.
You can see how your Investment Perspective compares to the product's requirements by opening the Details view. If your circumstances have materially changed since you last completed the questionnaire, you can review your answers.
Why am I being asked to complete the Investment Perspective?
You may be asked to complete the Investment Perspective if you trade — or wish to trade — certain complex or higher-risk products, such as CFDs, FX, or Futures and Options.
What happens after I complete the Investment Perspective?
Your Investment Perspective is updated based on your answers. This determines which products are available to you on the Saxo platform.
If a product doesn't match your Investment Perspective, you'll see a notice on the product page and on the trade ticket telling you the product isn't available and why.
What happens if I don't complete the Investment Perspective?
If a product requires you to have an Investment Perspective on file and you haven't completed it, you won't be able to open new positions in that product.
What if I currently trade a product that doesn't match my Investment Perspective?
If you have a mismatch on a product you currently trade, you will see a warning on the product page or trade ticket. This gives you notice ahead of the 1 November change and explains that the product does not match your current Investment Perspective.
