How to create an admin user
The admin user has the ability to assign authorisation roles to their colleagues’ access. An admin user can be set up by following the instructions listed below:
- In the ‘Appendix 1- List of Administrative Users’ spreadsheet, please list all administrative users.
- Please complete the signatory page Admin user form.
- Create a case for Client Services and attach the two document
- Once the request is processed by our client services team, the listed administrative users will receive a confirmation email.
The administrative user will now have access to the manage user module on the platform, where they can assign roles to their back office and authorised dealers.
The administrative users and admin form need to be filled out and signed in accordance with your company signing rules.
Existing authorised dealers or back office users cannot become admin users.

The admin user can assign roles to their back office and authorised dealers in SaxoConnect and SaxoTrader.
Assigning roles to users
As an admin user, you can assign roles to back-office staff and authorised dealers in both SaxoConnect and SaxoTrader. The article called Account Level Access explained will provide you with a detailed guide for each platform.
Description of roles
The base roles that can be selected are:
- View only: User can view account information but cannot trade.
- Authorized Dealer: User can place and manage trades and view account information.
The plus roles that can be added in addition to the base roles are:
- Manage Corporate Actions – User can view and submit corporate action instructions (e.g. dividends, rights issues).
- Manage Interaccount Transfers – Perform inter-account cash transfer
- Manage Cash Transfers – User can initiate and manage cash transfers.
- Manage Cases – Create, look up and provide feedback on cases
- View Cases – Read only access to Case Management module.
Once the relevant roles have been assigned to the user, then the admin user must press Assign (4) to enable the configuration.
Editing roles
The admin user can follow the same steps listed above should they wish to amend the roles or accesses currently assigned to a user.
Assigning roles on account level vs. client level
On the client level (1), the admin user can state whether the user should be authorised to trade on or view the client’s account (base roles). They are able to select plus roles on the client level, and by selecting the roles on this level means these permissions apply to all accounts associated with the client.
Each user needs a base role at both the client level and the account level. If you assign roles per account, the client-level base role does not carry over to the accounts; it only defines the user’s relationship with the client. So you must assign a suitable base role to each account to give the user the right permissions.
On the account level (2), the admin user can select whether the user should have additional restrictions, meaning that they should be able to trade on one account only, view another, and not have access to two other accounts. In addition, the admin user can restrict the user further so that they only have access to trade (base role) and elect on corporate actions, but do not have access to perform cash transfers.
